What to do when it's windy and rainy?

Just like people, I guess hummingbirds like to hunker down where it's relatively dry and close to a good supply of food.

So what kind of hummer is it, you bird experts?

By the way, the paddle wheeler from yesterday (and another smaller tour boat from Sitka, Alaska) are both tied up in the south harbour, waiting for calmer seas...

You never know what you will see....

Tied up on the waterfront, my first thought was that someone had taken a wrong turn when travelling north up the Mississippi.

But it's called the "Alaska Queen" and a search of the Internet says it's on a 3 day journey from Washington state to Alaska where it will be used in tourist season to give cruise passengers tours of the harbour at Ketchikan.

This week

Our star magnolia tree by the front door-

yesterday after leaving the gang at the airport in Comox, we went shopping for bedding plants-and they are in my little greenhouse by the patio -still too cold to plant.

We had a great visit with Lesley and the 3 girls-lots of rock/shell collecting, swimming, shopping, visit to Texada Island, mini-golf. Jamie is almost a teenager, Carly is a cuddler, and Devon needs to be held down with both hands as you can see.
