several years ago Michelle gave us this coffee bag-I'm trying to get a new one from the farm in Kona-

Lund Shellfish Festival

A weekend of sailing firsts for us.
We taveled to Lund on Saturday with a few other boats for the Shellfish Festival.
-Towed our new dinghy
-Tied up at a new harbour.
-Learned to disembark from the boat into the dinghy-all 3 of us.
- Traveled north Sunday morning to a marine park where we anchored, went ashore.
(the anchoring definitely needs work!)
-Learned that the prawn boats start to leave the harbour at 4:30 am.
-Learned that the trip home from Lund takes about 3 hours in a sailboat-it takes 30 minutes by road.

Bailey was very definite about not peeing in a kitty litter tray full of sod!!!

Blossoms and bees

Large Bee house in the back yard-you can see several holes are filled with eggs.
So funny on a rainy day to see the bees in the empty holes all facing out all lined up like cars in a parkade waiting... waiting for sun.

Our cherry tree-very lovely this year.

Small bee house by the front door, most filled up now. This house is full of cardboard tubes made specifically for this purpose.
We have a little notice explaining to the unknowing what these guys are.

The Spirit Pole comes to town

Ken doing his bit, with the help of the 2 master carvers.We got to keep the little shavings that we took off in a special envelope with the date that it was done

To celebrate BC's 150th birthday, a large cedar log is being taken around the province. It will be carved into a totem, and everyone can carve a piece out of the wood and instill a bit of his or her spirit into the finished product.
Today we joined hundreds of people, including about 500 school kids as we took turns adding to this piece of history. The pictures don't show the crowds and exuberance of the kids.
It was a glorious day and a magical place to be.
I was also a puppeteer for 4 puppet shows put on by the museum, depicting the release of the west wind...

The sailing Club goes to Vivien Island

About 7 hours on the water today and we're tuckered out-all 3 of us.
We joined a couple other boats on a trip to Vivien Island out in Georgia Strait. It was very calm and after about 3 hours of wallowing around looking for wind, we gave up and turned our motors on.

Those with dingys rowed ashore and according to Robin, the island was covered with wild flowers in full bloom. The south tip was also covered with seals and probably sea lions-Ken counted 12-13.
This was the first time that we had anchored. I get to steer during that operation and I'm not very good at that which Ken will attest to....
